Donny Lia had expectations of a strong run heading to the Nashville 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at the Nashville Superspeedway. Kyle Busch had other ideas for the his competitors and drove away from the field, lapping all but eight vehicles and leaving most of them feeling down and out.

Lia qualified the ASI Limited No. 07 Chevy in the eighteenth spot with a lap of 31.47 seconds at over 152 mph during Friday afternoon’s qualifying session and took the green flag from the outside of row nine directly behind teammate Chris Eggleston who qualified sixteenth.

At the start of the race, Lia’s truck was very loose and he lost several positions in the first green flag run.

The first caution came on lap 32 for debris on the track, Crew Chief Jason Miller called Lia to the attention of the SS Green Light crew who changed four Goodyear’s, topped Lia’s Chevy off with Sunoco racing gas and made several adjustments to try to help the handling of Donny’s truck.

A long green flag run would hurt the No. 07 as the adjustments made on the first stop were not enough to overcome the loose condition and Lia lost another lap to the leaders.

Unfortunately, there was only one other caution so the team did not get the opportunities they needed to help Lia get a better handle on the truck. The 150-lap race ended with Lia in twenty-second position several laps behind Busch.

Crew Chief Jason Miller knew that the team missed an opportunity. “We unloaded off the hauler with a truck capable of a top-five, we were good in the first practice.”

“We made several adjustments to try to make the truck even better and none of them worked out for us,” Miller added. “We tried to adjust the truck back to how we had it at the beginning, but it never was as good for Donny in the race as we were in practice. We needed another caution or two to make some more changes to help Donny out.”

The next scheduled race for Donny Lia is the Dover 200 at the Monster Mile of Dover International Speedway on May 14th.
