Donny Lia Seeking a Thompson Victory
#18 Team Rides Momentum into World Series
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is scheduled for five events this season at Thompson International Speedway (CT).  The track is a cornerstone of the Tour and hosts such prestigious races as the Icebreaker, the Sunoco 300 and this coming weekend’s World Series.

It’s a place where Donny Lia loves to go with his #18 Liacars.com team and it is a place where he badly wants to win.  That’s exactly what he is looking to do at the World Series and the October 29th Twin 100s at the facility.
“We’ve got two chances to win there before the end of the year,” said Lia.  “We’re looking forward to both of those races.  We’ve gotten the cars pretty good lately and I really want to win at that track in a Tour Modified.”

Lia is fresh off of a runner-up finish at Stafford Motor Speedway, where he finished the last two turns of the Fall Final on only two wheels.  A spectacular finish like that has him pumped up and ready to race.

“We have some momentum to carry into Thompson.

Hopefully, that will help us.  It builds my confidence for sure and the cars are working just right.”

The Big T is a unique race track and anyone who can put together a good run there has something to be proud of.  Lia won a RoC Modified race there in 2004 and has learned to enjoy racing the track.

“It’s tough to do well there, but it’s also a fun track,” said Lia.  “I like to drive there.  There are a few good grooves at Thompson, you just need to find the one that works for the car that you have.  You can move around and make the car work in different places sometimes.  The top is usually the best way around, but the bottom or middle can work too.  There are a lot of options there.  It’s a real driver’s track.”

Qualifying for the World Series is this Saturday, October 15th.  The feature race is on Sunday, October 16th.
