Donny Lia Finishes Fourth at Twin State
Mystic Missile Team Fills Up Short Track Notebook
After winning the last three races on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour schedule, Donny Lia had a race on Sunday night at Twin State Speedway that was, well, uneventful.
for the young Long Islander racer?  The answer to those questions would be a resounding no and no.

“No, I never get tired of winning,” laughed Lia.

Most importantly, the #4 Mystic Missile team that Lia races for got to learn quite a bit at Twin State.  What they discovered at this race should make them even stronger for their next scheduled event, an August 4th race at Riverhead Raceway (NY).

“We learned a little bit.  We know why we didn’t have a car that could win the race.  We’ll put that in the memory bank and move on.  We’ve got Riverhead coming up, so even though this place isn’t exactly like Riverhead, some of the general ideas are the same so now we have a better idea of what we are going to bring there.  We came out of here learning something.”

Lia contended for the victory and stayed in the top five all night.  He finished fourth, maintained his point lead and was satisfied with a job well done after the race.

“We knew what we had to do here,” said Lia.  “We kept all four wheels on it and came out of here with a top five finish.  These guys did a good job and we had a good racecar.  We qualified towards the front and finished towards the front.  We couldn’t ask for more than that – except to win of course.”

So after four victories in the first seven Tour races of 2007, was Lia just trying to let another driver get a shot at victory lane?  Or maybe the winning feeling just got tiring
