Lia Heads to Thompson on a Hot Streak
LMI Team Is Fresh Off a Victory at Waterford
Donny Lia and the #18 Lia Motorsports, Inc. team will head into this weekend’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event at Thompson Speedway with a little added spring in their step and a slightly higher level of confidence after winning their first NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event of 2006 on Sunday evening at Waterford Speedbowl (CT).

Now Lia is looking to double up with a victory in the World Series at Thompson.  The young Long Island driver has seen possible victories at New Hampshire, Martinsville and several other tracks go flat after a string of bad luck this year.  He hopes that is all behind his team now.

“We know that we can win,” said Lia.  “That’s never been the issue.  Now that we’ve won one, we’re just going to keep it going for as long as we can.  We just hadn’t had any good luck all season.  We’re excited after winning at Waterford and we’re really looking forward to the World Series now, that’s for sure.”
