Donny Ready to Gain Momentum at Riverhead
After Blown Engine, Blown Tire and Rainout, It's Nice to Go Home
Donny Lia started out the 2006 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season on fire.  He rose to third place in the point standings early on, but has hit a speed bump of bad luck recently.  A blown engine at New Hampshire, a rainout at Waterford and a blown tire at Holland put a damper on his month of July.
But now, it’s August and Lia is heading to Riverhead Raceway this Saturday night.  That is the track where he has won the last three August events.  To make things even better, it is also his home track – where he cut his Modified racing teeth and where family and friends can always be found.

It’s also where he hopes to turn things around.

“Every season for the past three years, we’ve been struggling in the middle of the summer stretch.  Then we’ll go to Riverhead and kick things into high gear,” said Lia.  “This year, we started out the season well, but the last three races have been pretty tough.  We need to get back to where we were and right now, there is no place where I would rather be going than Riverhead.

“It’s been a good track for me.  We go there and we run well.  We haven’t dominated, but we’ve been good enough to be in a position to win and we’ve capitalized on that.  Hopefully that can continue and we can go out and win another one this weekend.”

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event at Riverhead Raceway will take place this Saturday, August 5th.  Time Trials are set for 5:45pm.

Donny knows hwo to win at Riverhead.
