Lia Looks To Score a Thompson Win at The Icebreaker
Winning at The Big T is a Big Goal of His
Donny Lia has had some really good races at Thompson International Speedway (CT).  He likes the track and he has won poles there, but there is one thing that has been missing for him at the track so far – a victory.

Lia hopes to change that in this weekend’s Icebreaker, which is the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season opener.
“I want to win at Thompson,” said Lia.  “That is one of my career goals.  I want to win everywhere, but I really want to win at Thompson.  I love that place and it’s a special place for me for a lot of different reasons.”
Lia is aware of the rich history at Thompson and would like to become a greater part of that himself.

“If you look at the record books, the winners there are some of the best that have ever been.  I want to get on that list.”

The Icebreaker is sandwiched between two trips to Nashville Superspeedway (TN) for Lia.  He tested an ARCA RE/MAX Series machine there last week and had the 11th quickest

time of over 50 drivers at the track.  On April 15th, he’ll make his ARCA debut in the #9 Hagans Racing Dodge.

In 2006, Lia will split his time between the #9 ARCA car and the #18 Modified.  Even though both cars are very different beasts, he does not forsee any difficulties in adapting to both vehicles.

“I really don’t think that will be a problem.  I’m fortunate enough to have really good equipment for both ARCA and the Modifieds.  That will make my job as a driver easier on both ends.”

The Icebreaker is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, April 9th.  The PFG-Lester 150 for the ARCA RE/MAX Series is scheduled for 1:30pm ET on April 15th and will be televised live on SPEED Channel.
