Donny Lia Finishes Just Outside of Top 10 at Thompson
Wrong Shock Package Drops Team to 12th-Place Finish
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is ultra-competitive these days.  Nearly 50 cars show up for many of the biggest races on the schedule and at times, a top-10 finish is like a victory.  To out perform the competition, a team needs to try new things and keep stepping up their game.
Sometimes those experiments work, sometimes they don’t.  Donny Lia and the #18 Lia Motorsports, Inc. team found that out Thursday night at Thompson International Speedway when a shock package on their car did not agree with the conditions of the 100-lap feature race.

Lia, who ran in the top-five early on, faded to a 12th-place finish in the event.

“The guys worked hard and they always work hard, we just went with the wrong shock package,” said Lia.  “All that it did was to hurt our right rear tire quicker.  We learned some stuff and came away with a 12th-place finish.  I wish that it could have been a top-10, but it wasn’t.”

Lia and the LMI team will return to action at Stafford Motor Speedway on Tuesday, July 4th.

“I know that next time, we’ll be better than tonight,” added Lia.  “We’ll be all right for Stafford.”
